The Monticello Advertising & Promotion (A&P) Commission was created under the authority of Arkansas Code Annotated § 26-75-605 and Monticello City Code § 11-61 to 66 (Ordinance 761 5/02/11). Each of the Commission's seven (7) members serve seven (7) year terms. Members are appointed by the A&P Commission with approval from the Monticello City Council and consist of three (3) members from the owners or managers of the local hotels or motels, one (1) member from the tourism industry, two (2) members from serving members of the City Council, and one (1) member appointed at-large.
The duties of the Commission are to oversee the collection of the city-wide Hotel, Motel & Convention (HMC) Tax on gross receipts from the renting, leasing , or otherwise furnishings hotel, motel, or short term condominium rental accommodations for sleeping, meeting, or party room facilities for profit; but such accommodations shall not include the rental or lease of such accommodations for period of thirty (30) days or more.
The A&P Commission meets monthly on the fourth Monday of the month at the Hampton Inn at 5:30 pm.
